The Minutes of the last Meeting of the Committee, held on the 21st ultimo, having been read at the last Meeting of the Legislative Council on the 24th ultimo, are taken as read and are confirmed.

(1.) Read: An application from the Acting Colonial Treasurer, dated the 16th instant, on behalf of Mr. Li Tak Cheung, of the Tsáp SuING Company, for Police protection to his Opium Boiling Factory at Lapsapwan.
Read also: The Governor's Minute of the 18th instant, approving of the temporary employment of 4 extra Sikh Constables.
The Committee finding that the Government derives a revenue of about $450 per day from this Opium Boiling Establishment, no hesitation, therefore, in recommending that a sum of $53 a month be voted as a temporary arrangement, namely:----
Pay of 4 Constables, at $12.50 each.
